EASTERN SHORE CHORAL SOCIETY

"Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony"


The Eastern Shore Choral Society has been invited to sing at the City of Fairhope "Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony" on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 5:40 p.m. 

The choral society will be singing some "Christmas" favorites.  The Mayor of Fairhope will be speaking at the ceremony.

The program will be presented at the corner of Fairhope Avenue and Section Street near the clock in downtown Fairhope, Alabama.

Seventeenth Annual Christmas Concert
 
"A Christmas Celebration"
 
Eastern Shore Choral Society will be performing their Seventeenth Annual Christmas Concert, "A Christmas Celebration" on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 and Thursday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m.  The St. Francis Traditional Episcopal Church, is located at 17280 Scenic Highway 98 in Point Clear, Alabama 36564.  It is about one mile past the Grand Hotel in Point Clear.
 
The choral society will perform the "Magnificat" by Antonio Vivaldi and some Christmas favorites.

Eastern Shore Newcomer's Christmas Party 

Eastern Shore Choral Society has been invited to sing at the Eastern Shore Newcomer's Christmas Party to be held at the Eastern Shore Art Center, at 401 Oak Street in Fairhope, Alabama 36532 on December 6th, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.  

The choral society will perform a selection of Christmas favorites at the event.

"AUTHOR SIGNING EVENT"

November 5, 2008

4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 

Some members of the Eastern Shore Choral Society will be singing Christmas favorites at an "Author Signing Event" on Thursday, November 5, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Page & Palette Arts,32 Section Street in Fairhope, Alabama 36532.

 

This book-signing event is for a new children's book entitled "Elf on a Shelf" by Carol Aebersold.  Check out the Page & Palette website at: www.pageandpalette.com.

Eastern Shore Choral Society

Welcomes New Members! 

 

The Eastern Shore Choral Society welcomed 12 new members at their Potluck dinner held on August 18, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, in Fairhope, Alabama.  The new members are:  Josh Davis, Megan Rae Dillard, Glenna Grant, Rachel Grant, Kyndall Haywood, Claire Heard, Frank Hixon, Alison Inscore, Alba Russo, Randy Smith, Cameron Stallings, April Starr. 

The Potluck Dinner was a great success.  Special thanks go out to all the members who contributed their time and talents and to the First Baptist Church for the use of their Social Hall for this event.

ESCS is looking forward to another wonderful new season of beautiful music.  Rehearsals are held at the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532 each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. (Off for Labor Day) All singers are welcome to join us!

EASTERN SHORE
CHORAL SOCIETY’S 2008-2009 SEASON BEGINS:

_____________________AUGUST 18, 2008______________________

Eastern Shore Choral Society will begin rehearsals for their winter season on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner at the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section Street, Fairhope, in the Social Hall. 

All singers are welcome!  Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. Music will be distributed, dues collected ($45.00 per semester and full-time high school students are FREE), and vocal evaluations conducted at this meeting.  All other rehearsals will begin at 7:30 p.m. on every Monday evening.

The choral society’s Christmas concerts will be December 2 and 4, 2008. The “Messiah” Concert/Sing-along will be on December 15, 2008.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our potluck dinner on the 18th of August 2008.

The Eastern Shore Choral Society performed a mini-concert at the Rock Creek Country Club in Fairhope, Alabama, on Tuesday, May 20th, 2008.  The concert was held at the Rock Creek's Newcomer’s Luncheon with about 90 people in attendence.


The choral society’s Director, Terry Maddox, conducted the choir in the performance, and the choir members that performed the concert were as follows:  
                 

     "Sopranos:  Debbie Bruker, Karola Buysse, Jerre Cleveland, Helen
     Garrett, Mary Hirschfeldt, Julia Hobbs, Renee LeRoy, Mary Loury,
     Dee Pace, Kathy Porter, Becky Rasmussen, and Donna Wilson.
 
     Altos:  Nancy Carrigan, Marilyn Evans, Jerry Franklin, Bibba Kendley,
     Eleanora Mauritson, Carol Miller, and Joan Miscan.
     Tenors:  Tom Bolden, Chris Benoit, Stephanie Crowe. 
     Bass:  Keith Carrigan, Toby Gurley, Fred Jones and Jim Strawn."

The Eastern Shore Choral Society will be performing John Rutter's "Requiem"at Carnegie Hall in New York on March 15, 2009.

Eastern Shore Choral Society is proud to introduce their new singers.  The choral society welcomed five more new singers and two more returning members as of January 28, 2008, for a total of ten new members and four returning members since beginning their new semester on January 7, 2008. 

The choral society extends a warm welcome to all of their new members and especially their newest members:  Cynthia Hyatt, Carrie Owens, Mallory Searcy, Marjorie Searcy, and Hope Stembridge. 

The choral society also extends a warm welcome to all their returning members and especially to their newest returning members:  Thomas Bolden and Dee Pace.

Eastern Shore Choral Society is looking forward to a spectacular Spring Concert with the addition of all the beautiful new voices.  Their Spring Concert will be held at the First Baptist Church in Fairhope on March 22nd and 24th at 7:30 PM.

Eastern Shore Choral Society welcomed five new singers and two returning members on Monday, January 7, 2008, at their first rehearsal of the new semester, which was held at the First Baptist Church in Fairhope, Alabama. 

The choral society's new members are Laura Bailey, Debbie Burket, Toby Gurley, Sharon Moore, Eunice Ng, and their returning members are Ceil Striplin and Donna Wilson.

The Eastern Shore Choral Society will resume their regular rehearsal time of  7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2008, at the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama  36532.

EASTERN SHORE CHORAL SOCIETY’S MINI-CONCERT

Thomas Hospital “Women’s Best” Brunch

The Eastern Shore Choral Society put on a mini-concert at a Women's Brunch for about 225 women from the Thomas Hospital “Women's Best” group on Thursday, December 6, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the Fairhope Civic Center.

 

The Choral Society's Director, Terry Maddox  conducted the choir, and Paul Anderson, Accompanist, also participated in the concert.

 

The mini-concert was in the morning of the same day of the Choral Society’s Christmas Concert, “Magnificat to Mistletoe,” which was held at 7:30 p.m., on December 6, 2007at the St. Francis Traditional Episcopal Church in Point Clear.

 

We would like to express our appreciation to Thomas Hospital for inviting the Choral Society’s members to join in the brunch after the concert and for their generous donation to Eastern Shore Choral Society.

Press Release - Eastern Shore Choral Society's 2008 Spring Season

Eastern Shore Choral Society will begin rehearsals for its spring season on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section Street, Fairhope. 

Singers interested in challenging themselves to learn exciting music, meeting new singers with the goal of contributing a professional choral sound for the community are invited to attend.  ESCS‘s purpose is to perpetuate the art of sacred classical music.  Secular music is also performed.

Music will be distributed, dues collected ($35.00 per semester), and vocal evaluations conducted at this meeting.  All other rehearsals will begin at 7:30 p.m. on every Monday evening.

The choral society’s spring concerts will be April 22 and 24, 2008 and will be performed at the First Baptist Church, 300 S. Section Street, Fairhope. This year’s concert will feature  Antonin Dvorak’ Messe in D  and a collection of spirituals.

ESCS is planning a trip to Europe in July 2008 and will perform this repertoire in several cathedrals in Prague, Vienna  and Budapest. Singers and friends interested in the trip should contact Terry Maddox, M.M. at 434-9325 or email at tmaddox@gspcmobile.org for more information.
